Cave Tubing in Belize
What a cool way to spend a day in Belize, Cave tubing down a river in the middle of the rainforest jungle.
Cave tubing has become a very popular activity for cruise ship visitors to Belize and also to vacationers staying in places such as Ambergris Caye.
Trips depart Ambergris Caye early and you head to the mainland via a fast boat and cut across the bay to where the river meets the sea. Here you enter the river mouth and head up the river where you can see lots of cool rainforest animals, such as Crocodiles, Parrots and Iguanas and Howler monkeys sitting in the treetops.
As you speed up the river it’s an exhilarating ride and eventually you arrive at Manatee look out where you jump on a private bus for the ride to where the Cave tubing is.
Once you reach the jungle camp you grab your tractor inner tube and follow your guide as you hike into the jungle. After 15 minutes of Hiking you will come to the river and the entrance to the underground cave systems where the ancient Maya worshipped among the crystal and limestone formations.
You jump into the cool water and let the gentle current take you and your inner tube and float down the river and into the underground caves seeing spectacular limestone formations and cools cave systems.
At the end of the tubing you head back to camp where you can change and get dry and have lunch before jumping back on the bus and heading to the Belize Zoo.
The Belize Zoo is unlike any zoo you have visited before, all animals are enclosed in large completely natural surroundings and the zoo only exhibits indigenous animals found in Belize and Central America.
At the Belize Zoo you will be able to see the national bird of Belize the beautiful Toucan and also April the famous Central American Tapir and cross between an Elephant and a cow.
Also you can view the elusive Jaguar, Central America’s apex predator. They have a Black one also known as a Black Panther and the regular spotted one. If you look closely on the black one you will be able to see his spots also.
Belize Zoo is a one of a kind zoo and well worth a visit, and gives you the chance to see the wild animals of Belize in their natural habitat.
After your visit to the zoo is back on the bus and head back to the boat for the ride back to Ambergris Caye.
